Everything You Must Do in Mazatlan This Fall

Take Me Out to the Ballgame – The Mazatlan Venados Open New Season and New Stadium
Friday, October 12 – December 31, 2019

Mazatlan may be known for its fresh seafood, sportfishing, history and beaches, but make no mistake: Mazatlan is a bigtime baseball town and the Mazatlan Venados are a bigtime, professional baseball team in the highly competitive Mexican Pacific League. Speaking of bigtime, this season will unveil the new and improved Estadio Teodoro Mariscal.  Sanctioned by Major League Baseball, this historic Venados stadium is a first-class facility and the perfect environment for day-time or night-time fun and entertainment.

Get Some Culture at the Festival Cultural Mazatlan
October, November, December 2019

Add a vibrant cultural and music scene to the growing list of reasons to visit or live in Mazatlan, Mexico!  The festival includes a wide range of cultural activities,  including theater, dance, music, art and photography.  International artists and companies, as well as virtuosos trained in the classrooms of its own Municipal Arts Center, all converge on Mazatlan during these months.  Showcasing productions in Angela Peralta Theater – a first-rate venue of historic character – the festival also features performances in churches, squares and outdoor spaces throughout the village of Mazatlan.

Day of the Dead Parade
November 1, 2019

I love the Day of the Dead in Mexico because it’s not a somber day of remembering family members and companions who have died.  On the contrary, it celebrates their lives in a festive and life-affirming way. Mazatlan’s Day of the Dead parade starts at the Plaza Machado and winds its way through the streets of the Historic Old Town of Mazatlán.  Along the route, you can see people distributing free beer from kegs, major firework displays, bands, stilt-walkers, fire performers, tractors and donkeys.  Hundreds of marchers dress up in Day of the Dead makeup and costumes.  It’s a major scene and celebration – one you won’t want to miss!

Yuck It Up at Mazatlan’s Comedy Club
November 2019 through March 2020

Now in its sixth season, the Mazatlan Comedy Club presents top quality comedians for a night of “clean comedy,” once a month from November to March in the Venados Showroom at the Playa Mazatlan Beach Hotel.  Each show features two comedians and includes a delicious buffet and open bar. www.mazatlancomedyclub.com

Pacific Marathon/Gran Maraton Pacifico
Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1, 2019

The Pacific Marathon/Gran Maraton Pacifico is rated one of the top 10 marathons in the world, thanks to Mazatlan’s scenic landscape and climate. Beyond the variety of running events – including everything from a 3K recreational run to the 5K, 10K, half marathon and full marathon – the Marathon is a three-day celebration featuring the best of Mazatlan. When participants aren’t running, they can experience our restaurants, bars, theater, music, maybe even a Venados baseball game at the new stadium and, of course, the free Festival de la Luz fireworks and laser show.  It’s no wonder Mazatlan’s Pacific Marathon attracts some of the top runners in the world!
