Mazatlan Animal Rescue rescues animals (mostly dogs) in street situations most weeks. They focus on those that are injured or ill and urgently in need of veterinary attention. Unfortunately, the need is far greater than the number of animals they can take into care.
Through the Hope Animal Sanctuary and local veterinary clinics, animals get extensive veterinary care and recovery time until they are back to full health. The sanctuary volunteers provide all dogs with the basics of socialization and leash training. Mazatlán Animal Rescue adopt animals to families in Mazatlan year-round. in winter, they also transport dogs to rescue partners and adoptive families in western Canada. A surprising number of Mazatlán’s visitors want to take home a four-legged family member. Mazatlán Animal Rescue has helped hundreds of rescued animals.
Mazatlan Animal Rescue’s work is sustained by a formidable web of community involvement. Through their volunteer program, people from all walks of life come to provide solace and care to countless animals. In this episode, Carol talks about the volunteer program and how people can help. If more people would volunteer, Mazatlan Animal Rescue would be able to provide an additional day for volunteers to visit the animals. They currently provide free transportation for the volunteers to visit three days a week but would add a fourth day if they had more volunteers.
If you’re an animal lover who wants to do something fulfilling and important for Mazatlan’s homeless pets, please consider volunteering for the Mazatlan Animal Rescue.
