The Best Places to Go for Burgers, Wings and Hot Dogs in Mazatlán

This would never have been a category when I first moved to Mazatlán 20 years ago. Sure, there was the usual array of fast food, like Burger King, McDonald’s and Subway.  But there weren’t that many places to go for a quality burger, chicken wings or the delicious bacon-wrapped Sinaloan hot dogs.  Plus, when I’m in Mazatlán, I’m all about eating fresh shrimp and seafood, but there comes a time when I need a gringo fix.

Facebook

  1. La Hamburguria.  Most likely, you’ve never thought of ordering a hamburger with shrimp and octopus, but there’s a first time for everything, so you’ll want to give the Santa Burger at La Hamburgueria a try.  Let’s face it, you probably won’t find another one on any other menu, plus it’ll make a memorable Instagram post.  The Hawaiian Tropic is my personal favorite.  The mushroom burger comes in a close second.  Cool ambience.
  2. Mary’s Burger ShoppeOkay, Mary is from Minnesota, but Viva Minnesota! because Mary’s Burger Shoppe has been supportive to Mazatlán for many moons now.  Mary has been living in Mazatlán and making great food for close to 20 years, so by now she is an honorary Mazatleca.  Her Juicy Lucy Burger and Philly Cheesesteak Mexican Style, combining both steak and chorizo, are yummy when you need a gringo rush!
  3. Diablos Super Hot Dogs.  Aside from ballpark franks, I never eat hot dogs, but if I had visitors to Mazatlán who did, I would take them to Diablos.  Why?  Wrapped in bacon in puffy buns, these Sinaloan hot dogs are a breed apart.  Diablos offers over 10 ways to make them complete yummy meals.  Still, the next time I’m likely to eat a hot dog will probably be at a Mazatlán Venados baseball game.  Even if they’re not your typical ballpark franks, hot dogs always taste better at a ballgame!

  4. Wing’s Army.  Like hot dogs, wings aren’t my thing either, but if they’re yours, you’ll want to enlist at Wing’s Army.  The star of the show here is no surprise, their chicken wings, featuring over 15 varieties of sauces.  They also offer over 40 different Mexican and imported beers plus burgers, sandwiches and appetizers.  Now drop and give me 20!
